At Pfizer, we apply science and our global resources to bring therapies to people that extend and significantly improve their lives. We strive to set the standard for quality, safety and value in the discovery, development and manufacture of health care products. Our global portfolio includes medicines and vaccines as well as many of the world's best-known consumer health care products.
For more than 60 years, Pfizer has been in Costa Rica, working to make a difference for all who rely on us. We proudly support 33 markets across Central America and the Caribbean from our hub in Costa Rica, which houses more than 200 employees providing financial, human resources, medical, regulatory, IT and marketing services for our commercial offices across the region. In 2013, Pfizer chose Costa Rica to set up its Global Financial Shared Services Center (GFS), which initiated operations supporting 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and in 2016, the expansion of GFS was announced, with the purpose of serving new markets in the United States, Canada and Europe. Currently, Pfizer employs more than 427 people in Costa Rica; 45% of them are located at the Global Financial Shared Services Centre. With the anticipated growth for the end of 2017, this figure could add up to 580 colleagues.
We are proud of the many activities and initiatives we are undertaking in Costa Rica, apart from our commercial operations, to strengthen the healthcare system, increase access to our high quality products, and find sustainable solutions to current and future health challenges.
